Rutherforth's Institutes 1754

I found Rutherforth particularly valuable, so I decided to acquire a personal copy.  The original was printed in two volumes.  I was able to find the first volume from 1754 for sale by a bookseller in Canada.  

This is the same print I studied in the Robbins several months ago.


I think one reason that caught my attention about Rutherforth is how much his systematization of Grotius's natural law system anticipates some of the key themes in Austin.  You can see this just by the Table of Contents:


Not only that, Rutherforth remains an authority in early American law, routinely cited by courts and lawyers as an accessible guide to Grotius's system of natural law.
